fib 2015 Symposium, 18-20 May 2015 in Copenhagen – Registration Open
Registration is now open for the fib’s 2015 Symposium, Concrete – Innovation and Design, which will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from 18-20 May 2015. Reduced early registration fees are available until 17 February 2015. For registration and further information, please visit the symposium website.
New fib commission, task group and working party structure
The year 2015 is an important year for the fib, as it is the first year we are operating under the new structure of our commissions, task
groups and working parties, as approved by the fib Technical Council in Mumbai in February 2014. More details on the restructuring can be found in the December issue of fib-news.
The terms of reference for each commission can be found on the Commissions and task groups page of our website. fib members can access the working programmes under the former structure (files updated through December 2014) on the Members Only page.
Structural Concrete Journal: September 2014 and December 2014 issues
The September 2014 and December 2014 issues of the fib’s Structural Concrete journal are available on the Wiley Online Library.
The September issue includes the following technical papers: Building bridges using the balanced lift method; Concrete integral abutment bridges with RC piles; Consistent practical design of concrete structures; Evaluation of design shear resistance of RC slabs; Experiments for punching behaviour of RC footings; Behaviour of round CFST columns; Effect of welding heat on composite columns; Minimum flexural rebar amount in rectangular and T-beams; Influence of time-dependent effects on crack spacing in RC beams; Stochastic fracture-mechanical parameters for performance-based design; Reliability-based post-fire assessment framework for concrete slabs; Effect of bond degradation due to corrosion – a review; and Review of potential lunar base building materials.
The December issue includes the following technical papers: Taking precast concrete to the limit; Challenges for concrete in tall buildings; Overview of imposed deformation in concrete structures; Appraisal of models for estimating drying shrinkage strains; Serviceability uncertainties in flat slabs; Punching shear tests on symmetrically reduced slab quarters; Review of different punching shear provisions for footings; New model for predicting FRP-concrete bond strength; Super-light concrete floor slabs; Monitoring-based fatigue assessment for concrete structures; Fire performance of composite hollow column with inner tube; Resource management of sustainable recycling concrete; Post-installed reinforcement connections at ULS and SLS; Behaviour of fatigue loaded self-compacting concrete vs. vibrated concrete.
fib members can access the articles by logging on to the Members Only page of the fib website. Under the item Structural Concrete Journal, click on the Wiley Online Library to access the journal issues. You can then go to the table of contents of the selected issue and download the individual pdf files of the articles.
fib Bulletin 72, Bond and anchorage of embedded reinforcement
fib Bulletin 72 is available for sale on the fib website. As part of the preparation for the fib Model Code for Concrete Structures 2010, the fib task group on Bond Models undertook a major review of rules for bond and anchorage of reinforcement in the CEB-FIP Model Code 1990. This bulletin presents the outcome of that review, describes the rationale for the revisions and presents the evidence on which the revisions are based.
fib Bulletin 73, Tall buildings
fib Bulletin 73 is available for sale on the fib website. The preparation of this bulletin was a collaborative work between the fib and MPA The Concrete Centre (UK) and explains how to develop, design and construct tall buildings.
fib MC2010 available in Polish
The Polish translation of the fib Model Code for Concrete Structures 2010 is now available. Polish speakers interested in buying this print edition can visit the Polish Cement Association (SPC) website or send an e-mail request for more information.
fib-news, December 2014
Along with a detailed article of the fib’s new commission, task group and working party structure (as mentioned above), the December issue of fib-news announces the new executives and members elect to the fib Presidium as of the beginning of this year. It also reports on the summer study program held at the Politecnico di Milano in July 2014 as well as on the 10th International Symposium on High-Performance Concrete and the fib Model Code 2010 workshop held in conjunction with the event. This issue also includes an article on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI).
fib Bulletin 73 is available for sale on the fib website. The preparation of this bulletin was a collaborative work between the fib and MPA The Concrete Centre (UK) and explains how to develop, design and construct tall buildings.
Structural Concrete Journal’s impact factor increase
We are pleased to announce that this year the Thomson Reuters score for the impact factor of Structural Concrete reached 0.857, nearly tripling in the period of one year. This increase is attributable to the high quality of the articles published in the journal.
