2014 fib Congress: extended deadline for abstracts

The deadline for submission of abstracts to the 2014 fib Congress, taking place from 10 to 14 February 2014 in Mumbai, India, has been extended until 15 May 2013. Submissions may be made through the online submission portal: https://www.softconf.com/d/fib2014/.

Held once every four years, the congress is fib‘s flagship event, where practitioners and researchers from around the world gather to discuss and exhibit all aspects of concrete structures. For more information about the event, visit http://www.fibcongress2014mumbai.com.


1st International Conference on Concrete Sustainability: Registration open

Registration is now open for ICCS13, the First International Conference on Concrete Sustainability, taking place is Tokyo, Japan from 27 to 29 May 2013. This conference will provide a forum to encourage the development of innovative concrete technologies and systems from the perspective of sustainability, and to discuss the future of concrete by exchanging the latest information, technologies and ideas.

The deadline for advance registration is 13 May 2013. Please note that registrations received after this date will not be processed until your arrival at the event. For more information, visit http://www.jci-iccs13.jp.


2013 fib Medal of Merit and Honorary Membership awarded in Tel Aviv

On Monday 22 April 2013 at the fib Symposium in Tel Aviv, the fib Medal of Merit was awarded to Jean-François Klein (Switzerland). Honorary membership was bestowed on James G. Toscas (USA). A full report on these honours and on the symposium itself will be published in the upcoming June issue of fib-news.


2013 fib Achievement Award for Young Engineers presented in Tel Aviv

At the recent fib symposium in Tel Aviv, Israel, the fib Achievement Award for Young Engineers was presented to Bente Skovseth Nyhus (Design and Construction Category) and (in absentia) Kamyab Zandi Hanjari (Research Category). Further details will be published in the June 2013 issue of fib-news.


Straits crossings 2013: Registration

Registration is now open for the Sixth International Symposium on Strait Crossings, which will take place on 16-19 June 2013 in Bergen, Norway.
The symposium will focus on connections across wide and deep straits, constructed and operated under extreme conditions with high waves and strong winds and currents. Strait crossings greatly influence transportation costs as well as social development, the environment, energy consumption and traffic safety issues. The symposium will cover all of these aspects. FRPRCS11: Registration open

Registration is open for the 11th International Symposium on Fiber Reinforced Polymers for Reinforced Concrete Structures (FRPRCS11), taking place in Guimaraes, Portugal, on 26-28 June 2013. This symposium will be a forum for the discussion of the potentialities and challenges of FRP for the reinforcement of concrete structures.
