fib Congress in Mumbai, India
Registration is open for the upcoming fib Congress, taking place from 10 to 13 February 2014, with early bird rates available until 15 December 2013.
The Congress will be a unique opportunity for sharing knowledge, state-of-the-art technology, and innovative ideas regarding all aspects of structural concrete. Following the Congress, three workshops will be held as additional optional events; see next item.

Structural Concrete, December 2013
The December 2013 issue of the Structural Concrete Journal is now available to fib members via the Wiley Online Library. Continuing the “Focus: fib Model Code for Concrete Structures 2010″ series, six of the issue’s ten articles deal with topics realted to MC2010. Other articles address 3D numerical modelling of concrete structural elements, the influence of anchorage head size on the punching capacity of slabs strengthened with vertical steel bolts, the influence of aggregate fracture on shear strength of RC beams, and a restoring force model for steen reinforced concrete columns.
fib members can access the articles by logging on to the fib website and then going to the “Membership services online” page. Under the item “Structural Concrete Journal”, click on the “Wiley Online Library” link to access the journal issues. You can then go the table of contents of the September issue and download the individual PDF files of the articles.
fib-news December 2013
The December 2013 issue of fib-news reveals the results of the 2014 fib Awards for Outstanding Concrete Structures, previews the upcoming 2014 fib Congress in Mumbai, and provides reports on recent fib-supported events held in Asia in and Europe. Model Code 2010 short courses held in Argentina and Austria are also reported on, and the publication of fib Bulletin 69, Critical comparison of major seismic codes for buildings, is announced.
